Quick Prayer

Today I laid a good friend in the ground,
Lord grant him peace and grace.
I'd known him through tears and laughin' out loud,
On heaven's bright shore he wakes.
There's a time to forgive a man gone wrong,
Who lost his trail in a country song,
Too short for this world but maybe too long,
Say a quick prayer for this cowboy now gone.
Lookin' back at our lives maybe I built a house
Frail like a deck of cards.
I remember a hand that was brave and loud,
Like how a bedtime story starts.
For those we want close we'll make a place
Made from sunset signs.
Givin' to be givin' too much of our space,
To them that mistreat our time.
There's time to forgive them done us wrong,
Back on our trail to the sunrise song,
Our time in this life ain't never too long,
Hope you'll say a quick prayer for me when I'm gone.
