The Lady with Glasses

She came to this home for no known reason

Entirely unarmed unharmed

unabashed and unawares of,

well, so much.         Yet,
relentless in a new and original

campaign of observance (not re:

Lent, Xmas, Black Friday or other

occurrences of a religious nature)

our guest off-limited doleful plus

judgmental asides of any stripe

proceeding to shepherd human phenomena,

fancying herself a pastor perhaps

fit or apt to judge physical spiritual mental

aspects of generations aplenty       to vet:

three lean teens finding fishing folly not fun

lusty twenty-somethings sleeping past noon

older odd adults hammering something home

nouveau-riche mid-rangers pursuing trophies

and a three-ring circus of elder circumstance

around an erstwhile swimming pool

past which pranced a proud alley cat

with the scruff of a rabbit clenched in teeth

that lost the prey to rapid scamper

just as soon as he paused to preen…

Seen enough thought the woman in spectacles

      I’m now set

to remove these prescribed framed lenses

to acknowledge the warmth of the sun.      Stet.
