Periplus Modernu

Who but a man called Quinn could claim to have made this journey?

This flight by land and sea in search of neo-Olympian glory

a nearly Homeric epic of a trip across oceans and continents

a saintly and Iberian and colonial and imperialistic jaunt from

San Diego to Hong Kong to Malacca to Capetown and finally to

Rio de Janeiro in February and March and following months

with flesh and bone hints of bone and marrow events

whether shots of bow and arrow or lots of ribbons and bows

and medals and bicycle pedals of straight shooters who opt out

of the straight and narrow approach the elders had imagined
