Fall in Fall

Fall in fall,
fall in a feast.
Wine,
cereal,
nuts,
maple syrup…
All flavors tide forward,
involve me.

Fall in fall,
fall in the paints.
Field,
valley,
forest,
and pond,
Heaven's palette overturns,
mire me.

Falling,
falling,
forget my way back.
Falling,
falling,
leave the honk behind.
Falling,
falling--
my gauzy wings are getting heavy
with chilly frost glistening.

Fall on the soft haystack,
fall in a warm dream.
A lonely Jack-O-lantern smiles
in the hollow,
quiet,
and sweet
dark.
